Trip to Brunei

We went for a short holiday in Brunei last month..we reached there about 9 am and rented a car. We brought our GPS along to help us find our way. But the GPS kept showing us the wrong way or near but not the correct building. Berpusing-pusing, last-last we decided to check-in our hotel first and have an early lunch.

Tried a nearby restaurant near the hotel and Irfan ordered chicken chop...bila sampai it was as above...tercengang jugakla masa tu...tanya waiter memang chicken chop..ooh macam ni ke their chicken chop? makan jela Irfan...

then we did a typical tourists thingy...jalan tengah panas & amik gambar
 another one
first stop...Royal Regalia museum, a place where all the souvenirs/gifts to the sultan are displayed. No cameras or handphones allowed except at the foyer.
the majestic looking royal chariot
the royal shield
after the museum we continued walking and saw this..while DH was reading inside,
the kids was already tired with walking...aikkkk...kalau cam ni macam mana nak ikut mama papa travel ni? baru setengah hari dah penat? Hish....belum lagi bawak pegi ho chi minh ke bandung ke...Kalau pegi jungle trekking tak pulak penat...tapi kalau jalan kat town asik2 tanya lepas ni nak gi mana? bila nak balik hotel? etc
Stopped by waterfront for a while.. ada orang offer boatride tapi seram tengok boat and ombak masa tu.

At night pegi Pasar malam,..all food is halal...bestnya can try anything that you fancy. most food selling at 1BND..chicken wings is popular here. Many stuff are similar to Malaysia but named differently here. Bought our dinner had it in our hotel room.
Then we go off to Jerudong Park. Unfortunately it was quite late and the ticket counter for the rides are closed. Jalan2 je la..
 DH seronok amik gambar
Next morning we went to Tamu Kianggeh.
 Smoked fish?
DH bought some ikan masin
We went to waterfront area again to buy some souvenirs .this boatman approached us and offered a ride. DH mentioned that life jacket are not provided, we wont take the risk. He told us he will get  the jackets for us...just wait for him at the jetty. Kalau cam tu okla..

The jackets were all adult size and zipper not working, pakai tali je ikat...hmmm tawakkal ajelah, after all i saw that we were the only ones yang pakai life jacket, tourist lain tak kisah pun...local memang tak pakai lah..
he brought us to a place where the rock looks like a ship about to sink. kira macam kisah si tanggang la ni..This is in front of Istana Nurul Iman.

the best shot you can get of the palace

one of the school in Kampung Ayer. Ada sekolah rendah, sekolah menengah, sekolah agama
 bomba
 masjid
 balai polis

 along the houses...kawasan perumahan lama
kawasan perumahan baru, double storey, a government project using a contractor from Japan, all equipped with aircon as it will get very hot during the day

Petang we went to a kopitiam

the usual stuff
their signature dish, kue tiau seama

then we decided  to stop by the beach, nampak pop ice blended. Of course the kids suka.

saw durian belanda or durian salat they call it here...lagi murah kat malaysia,  i bought the drink...sedap, more durian salat in the drink compared to the Malaysian ones tapi tak lawan air sirsak kat Indonesia.
this is how they prepare jagung bakar...bakar dengan kulit2 skali

Just relaxing by the beach

we drove off and stopped by another beach, a secluded and nicer beach.
busy conteng2
 ada apa?
oiii..dah la tu...stop taking my pics

on the way back to our hotel singgah kat supermarket and borong some indonesian stuff (including the pop ice that we drank at the beach) and some imported chocs (cheaper than Msia). rupanya bila balik my maid told me the pop ice tu kalau kat indon  harga 50sen je, tu yang ready to drink tu..ishhh kalau cam tu next time balik cuti borong tau... the next day we returned our car in the morning and jalan2 near our hotel ...before calling a taxi to the airport
Overall, it was quite a relaxing holiday, I think Brunei is a place where you visit once and just cross off your list of places to travel.

Hello Ezlin, wow! Love the pics. I've been to Brunei only once a very long time ago, but not as a tourist, on business.
And I really enjoyed looking thru the pics here. well taken too.
Bet your gang had fun too. Love that batu look like ship sinking. Nobody named it 'Titanic'? Ha ha.
That durian belanda really good preventing or curing cancer.

Love see those homes on stilts....just fish for lunch, ha ha.
Have a nice day.

Hi Uncle Lee,

Glad that you enjoy looking at the photos..Hahaha.....I'm sure all tourists will think of titanic when looking at the 'rock'.
Yup, must be very interesting to stay in Kg Ayer, they don't want to be relocated to other places.

Have a nice day,
ezlin
