Rezeki di kuala selangor

I have been buying my seafood in either pasar pasir penambang or jetty bagan pasir for almost 2 years till I saw this...and made me stop on my track...

Oysters!!! Fresh oysters! At rm2.50 a piece we bought rm20 of those thinking the kids would just take a small bite or have one each at the most. We ask the seller to open the oyster for us but he was reluctant and just told us how to do it " lu cari itu lubang, pakai pisau masuk dlm lubang..kalau x bole lu ketuk tepi ni, kasi pecah" ok.......sound simple enough.
And  there were scallops as well. Bought a kilo of those.
Balik rumah...operasi memecah oyster...coz the hole was too small, no pisau can do the work.
At last...look at the size of those..irfan' s first reaction when I showed him the oyster was eiii gelinya....yucks..if your first encounter of oyster is by watching mr bean movie ( the one where he won a trip to france) then that reaction is expected. But we managed to persuade him to try a bite of the fresh oyster with a squeeze of lime and he said the taste was ok. The oyster was bigger than what you usually get in a hotel buffet and tasted much fresher. Tengok2 malam tu mintak papa bukak lagi satu oyster..dia nak makan.
The next night dinner we have the scallops and the rest of the oyster baked. Some with cheese and some with sambal.

Oyster with cheese...x cukup pulak...sampai kena ration. Next time have to buy more..now that the kids enjoy eating it too.

Hello Ezlin, wow! Oysters! I love them....And the price not bad too. I used to buy them old days....and eat them fresh with a twist of lemon.
As well korek with screw driver those rocks by the sea for oysters. Makan begitu, sedap.

I'll take a pass the ones with cheese, ha ha. But love the sambal ones. Never tried that before. They all look so good!
You know what I miss here in Toronto? Kerang. Somehow we don't get them here in the shops. Lain2 ada, but not kerang.

Used to love eating them chelop chillie sauce...I alone will finish a big plate.
This kerang top of my list bila balek kampong. as well kerang laksa.

So sorry i didn't reply your message earlier. Baru ada time to take alook at my blog. Went there last week...no oyster anymore..
Hihihi...the one with cheese is my favourite. kerang celup cili i used to eat often when i was small. I love rendang kerang or even sambal kerang...eat with nasi lemak..yum yum

Hi Gemima, gerai oyster n scallop tu actually dalam pasar Pasir Penambang. kalau dari main entrance, oyster tu kat tengah dan scallop bhgn depan sebelah kanan. Tapi kadang2 aje ada, not all the time.

How much is the price of the sscallops per kg?

Hi Nurul Jannah,

At the time the blog was written it was RM10 per kilo. Now they sell cleaned scallops with one part of the shell taken out for RM16 per pack (probably about 500g or slightly more, i think)
