This makan-makan was actually during Syawal, but it's not actually an open house...sebab invite close family je. Since jemputan tak ramai  bolehlah masak sendiri....as always with me, we start with desserts..

 Kek lumut Sarawak and 2 types of fruitcakes.This time i made kek lumut using cake flour instead of the all purpose flour recommended in the recipe..the cake turned out smoother and finer.

I've tried making many chocolate cakes, in my opinion so far this is the best, the recipe I got from my mom. Cookies yang tinggal only biskut mazola, tu pun bawak from kampung.

The night before, making burger patties from scratch using 5kg of beef, cuba goreng sikit dulu, tak cukup garam,..dah cukup rasa semuanya baru start buat patties...we got about 40 patties altogether.

Raya 2013

I haven't been updating my blog post for more than a month now. For those who have been on my facebook friend list will know that my father passed away a week before Syawal, hence our raya this year is a low-key affair. This year raya was at my grandma’s place. My mom spent most of her time there, only going back to her own place at night to sleep. This raya, many of my aunts, uncles and cousins came back for raya at kampung. Two families had to book a homestay and a hotel room because my grandma’s place was full.

This year raya, the girls’ baju ready made from Vietnam, the boys’- only material from Vietnam, tailoring done here.

We did not even manage to get a full family photos of everybody who were at grandma’s like last time partly because rumah nenek kena serang with relatives- it was not non-stop but they came in batches, about 30-40 people per batch, sampai tak cukup tempat duduk, mainly to visit my grandma… Alhamdulillah moga murah rezeki nenek. For those who have not been celebrating raya at kampong for quite some time were surprised to see that many people turned up.

Second raya, we made our way to Kuala Pilah- DH’s atuk place and finally to my in-laws.

Third raya, baru dapat buat photo session and raya to DH’s relatives.

After the raya break I have been busy baking red velvet cake for orders and also to bring them to the open house that we went. Never have I bake red velvet cakes this large quantity before. Again, Alhamdulillah for the rezeki.

Kundasang & KK Trip

Last month DH had a seminar in KK, so all of us tag along...we wanted to go to Kundasang. We took Malindo air...the kids were super excited when they saw the flight entertainment..all this while they only took air asia or air asia x je..mana ada suma ni..

Sampai airport DH rented a car and drove to Kundasang...along the way nampak signboard Jambatan Tamparuli...so we stop by.

 yummy chocolate milk..other types of milk suma sold out. We bought some fresh mushroom, strawberry and tidbits, had dinner and restint our room. Slept early coz there's nothing much to do at night here and we were also awake from 4am earlier.

 Next morning DH and I had an early breakfast at the resort. simple buffet spread..kids were still sleeping
at this hour. After breakfast we woke the kids up to get ready. They had bread/ cup noodles breakfast which they actually enjoyed more than our breakfast.

we went further up to the tea plantation. the road to the tea factory is actually gravel road...it's about 1km from the main road but because of the road condition and we only saw 4WD passing us we were not sure if normal cars are meant for the road... sampai atas nampak kancil lagi...lega

Dh busy trying to get a good shot. We drove back to KK as DH has a session late evening.

Checked- in sutera harbour and terus pegi pool. I didn't join them, had a short nap instead. Tengah tidur room service hantar fruit basket and chocolates.

 Since DH session will only ends at 9pm, I decided to bring the kids for dinner. we took a shuttle bus to the city.

 we went to pasar malam and decided to eat there...makan ikan biru...I'm not sure the name of the fish

 ikan bakar... all the seafood plus rice and drinks for RM90. After our dinner we went to pasar malam and bought some pearls/crystal brooches. we went back taking the same shuttle bus.

then we went to Pasar Gaya and had lunch nearby.

Drove to airport, returned the car and wait for our flight home. Enjoyable break.
